FIFA World Cup South Africa 2010

Postby Fox » Wed May 19, 2010 5:53 am

Since we have many Inazuma Eleven fans and hopefully soccer friendly people here I thouht why not to talk about th upcoming event. As you may know the World Cup starts in a few weeks in South Africa. I know Inazuma cloud be way more fun to watch than the real thing. It would be great to see such moves in reality but we are bound to the laws of physics (Thx. to Newton ^^ ).
Anyway it's intresstingt to know if someone is even going to watch the World Cup and if who is your personal favourite and why? Many nations qualifed and of coruse you should be for own country. So am I. I hope of course that Switzerland wins but to be realistic it would be great if they reach the 1/4 finals. My personal tip is France eventough they made it barely into it whith the hands goal of Henry & Gallas. So I hope we get a little disscousion here.

Over here, at least on free-to-air television, nothing to do with soccer airs at a reasonably watchable time. You can count on matches starting at about 4 AM. As much as I'd like to, I don't really know anything about the game in terms of how teams stack up against each other.

I'll certainly watch, there's bound to be something airing at daytime during the World Cup, but that might be the best I can manage.

That's right about the time difference. I faced that problem twice. Once in 1994 when the World Cup was in the USA and in 2002 when it was in South Korea and Japan. In 94 I was to young to stay up all night. Today it would not be a problem. If you mean how the groups are mixed together the rule is: Each group has 4 teams. They put the the current best teams and the host in one pot. In the 2nd are the European teams. In the 3rd are Noth&South American Teams and Austrailia/New Zealand. In the 4th pot are the Affican teams. From each pot is one team going to be put in a group.

For you makes that :
Germany
Australia
Serbia
Ghana

good luck!

Hrm. That's interesting. I might check out all of these pots sometime.

But what I meant was how they stack up, as in, how good they are in relation to each other. Not how they're paired up. :3

hmm let's see it's not my personal opinoin. But general opinion ist that most Europe countrys hate Germany (only in soccer). They laught at Switzerland. Italy is a bunch of fakers. Germany hates France (suprise?) Nobody really cares about USA, Australia and New Zealand. Brazil hates Portugal. The continent dislikes England. Most Teams respect Spain, Portugal, Brazil ,Netherlands Argentina, Mexico and others. Japan can become very dangerous and should not be underestimated. Form Africa is Côte d'Ivoir and Gahna are really good. And what the game makes interesting is (i hope i use the right term now) are the "outsiders" like Serbia, North Korea, Honduras etc. They'll fight because they are not often in World Cup.

My dorm here in China for the summer is like 3 blocks from the local club's stadium,-- 51,000 seater, too, so it's not small. I should go pick up a game. When's the Cup start? CCTV probably might have it...

yeah I can't imagine the association will want another cup in south africa as long as they have those vuvuzelas. /meh
First World Cup I've really followed though, it was fun and will look forward to the next in four years. ~ >w<

i think it's not the problem of the vuvuzuelas it's more that the stadiums weren't sold out. They even gave free tickets to the public to fill them. 4 years ago in Germany you had to buy them overpriced at the black/grey market. I didn't know that you were actually watching i waited for a reaction here...cuz i don't like to double post. Anway 2014 Brazil :D

hmm well maybe they were bad at last match but all in all they were really good and deserved to win. especally they were more than once in the finals and they never succeeded. the ninja kick wasn't very nice but let us remember Zidane....that was bad.
